Northeasterners off to sao paulo
Twin Falls, ID- July 24, 2007
A whirlwind blew through this quiet town in the high desert of southern Idaho today. While most of the Amazing Race teams are still trying to launch from the Perrine Bridge (Potato Bridge to some), the team from the Northeast region blew through the town, vaulted from the bridge and paddled down river to Glenns Ferry so quickly that they left a wake in the Snake River. They left Glenns Ferry in a flurry and were last seen at the Boise airport boarding a flight to Sao Paulo. The studs from New York and Pennsylvania have exploded to take a commanding lead in the Amazing Race.

When they get to São Paulo, racers travel one mile to a motorcycle shop and choose a motorcycle frame. Then, using the parts provided and a finished model for reference, they assemble the motorcycle. Once the mechanic can kick start the cycle, racers receive their next clue directing them to Caverna Agua Suja (Dirty Water Cave).  Racers must navigate through water underground to a 6.5 ft water fall where a cavern guide directs them to the next rest stop.

perrine bridge activity attracts local attention
Twin Falls, ID- July 16, 2007
This little town in southern Idaho is abuzz about the shenanigans and "goings on" up the Snake River at the Perrine Bridge. It seems that people are hanging from the bridge in their parasails looking for a way to get down to the Raft Troubleriver. They just can't seem to get this race idea moving. A couple of the Varsity Team are down at the river but they either sunk their kayaks or bored a hole in their rafts after hitting the sharp rocks.

After the auspicious beginning from Alex Alvarez and Wayne Farrens, we've had major stall out at the starting line. If sales don't pickup, we're going to have to send a bus to Twin Falls and pickup the team.

Perrine Bridgebridge-top negotiations futile
Twin Falls, ID- July 14, 2007
There's a bunch of guys on the bridge negotiating with the Race Committee trying to get past sales counted for the contest. "The contest started on July 1." If you booked a contract that started on July 1, 2007, then you should be off and running. If it booked before July 1, good job! But it won't count for the Amazing Race. Sell something and get off that darn bridge.

Alvarez, farrens, maldonado & white downriver
Glenns Ferry, ID- July 11, 2007
Alex Alvarez, Wayne Farrens, David Maldonado and James White are already in Glenns Ferry getting suspicious looks from the locals who are wondering when these "different" folks are going to be leaving the area. Do they have a surprise coming. If more sales don't materialize, they may never leave. They don't even suspect a big wave is headed their way.

Morgan in Japanracers jumping ahead on the route
On the Amazing Race Route - July 7, 2007
It seems that some of the contestants have tried to short circuit the process and they've appeared far down the race route. Seems like one of our finest got his camel stuck in a sand dune (pdf) in Egypt and another has his best Chuck Norris imitation (pdf) going on in Japan. Those are both destinations on the course but the race starts in Twin Falls, guys. You won't get any points for starting in the middle of the course. We need good men like you in the race. Get back to Idaho.

Alvarez in snake river canyon
Twin Falls, ID- July 7, 2007-
Alex Alvarez got a clean jump from the Perrine Bridge and is floating softly to a landing on the floor of the Snake River Canyon. His closing of the contract with the Washington Department of Ecology has propeled him into the lead. He seems to be having a problem getting shed of his parachute though and I think he might be hearing some footsteps.

Potato Bridgefarrens team moving forward
Twin Falls, ID- July 6, 2007
Look out Alex! Wayne Farrens and his team are out of their chutes and into the rafts. They're heading for Glenns Ferry. They closed the Arete contract in Northridge, CA, and James White is leading the charge. It's plain to see that the Bayou Boy from Louisiana doesn't like to lose. Wayne's team with James White, Jerry Bennett, Luis Segura, Tod Bender, David Maldonado and Morgan Cubete are going to be hard to beat. They've got some momentum and they don't want to lose it. They have Boise and the flight to Sao Paulo in their sights.
